Dollar Bill Origami Kit

Dollar Bill Origami Kit: 69 Fun-To-Fold Projects Plus 24 Sheets of Origami Money [With 2 Paperbacks and Origami Paper]   [CRAFT-BXD-DOLLAR BILL ORIGAMI] [Other] Paperback – 1994

This is a fun kit if you like to do origami as you will be folding money or the play money in the kit.  You get 2 books with lots of different diagrams to do and one is easy and the other is a little harder..  The only thing about the directions is that it does not give you good directions on how to fold your money.  It shows the folds but does not describe them very well.  One year I folder money for 3 of my granddaughters up to $50.00 each and had it hide around in their gift and it was so much fun, but I tried to follow these directions and could not get one item so far made.  But I am a lot older now so I know that is the problem.  Thanks so much to Dover Publishing company for sending me this kit in return for my honest review.

This coloring book is absolutely beautiful.  Each page to color is enhanced with gold either the back ground or parts of the picture.  The pages before the coloring page has a beautiful Bible verse that represents the picture.  I have had a lot of coloring books and use some of the pages framed and on my wall, but. I believe this one is the prettiest that I have seen.  It just took my breath when I opened it the first time as the cover is colored in these beautiful colors.  The author Randy Alcorn and his team did a marvelous job with this book.  As Christmas is coming up this would be a great gift if you have someone that loves to color.  Thanks so much to Tyndale Publishing for sending me this book in exchange for my honest review.

Tyndale House Publishers, Inc.

Let me start by saying this book is BEAUTIFUL.  The pictures and the stories are so good that I am a very proud owner of it.  A few places to color in the back and they are outlined in red, just waiting for you to put your magic to them.  On some of the pages there are places for you to write notes and then there are small spots to color on some of the pages.
Bible verses all throughout the book and part of them take up a complete page, they would be so pretty to frame and hang on your wall.
I just want to thank Tyndale for sending me this book for my honest review and I think I have done that.

The Worm and the Bird

From the award-winning illustrator and author of The Fox and the Star, Coralie Bickford-Smith, a beautifully illustrated tale about a Worm, a Bird, and the importance of being present and appreciating what you have, where you are.

Digging through the ground day in and day out, Worm dreams of a better life. Despite having endless paths of dirt to plough, other burrowing creatures to befriend, and underground treasures to discover, Worm wants more—more space to be alone. Too busy to see the world around it, pushing everything aside, Worm learns a hard lesson in appreciating what you have and where you are.
This first part was taken from Penguin book's web site.  My review is below.

Oct 10, 2017 | 64 Pages

This book has some beautiful illustrations but the story line is a little confusing to me, it tells how a worm feels in the ground and how it look to it.  Then it switches to how a bird sees the sky.  This book is one that you have to use your immigration on the story, and I think anyone would love the pictures.  I want to thank Penguin books for sending it to me for my honest review.

Ivy and the Inky Butterfly

Johanna Basford

ISBN:  978-0-14-313092-5

I love all of Johanna Basford's adult coloring books, this one has a story to go alone with it. " A little girl named Ivy tying to find her Inky Butterflies found a secret door that leads to a magical world." taken from back of book.  All the pages are so nice to see and to try to figure out what colors to use and what media you want to use.  All of Johanna's books have very nice paper that any media you want to use will not bleed through.
The pictures have a written story to read and enjoy as you color.  As always on Johanna's books she has the front cover partly colored with a beautiful gold and on this book it is has some green on the cover also.  Christmas is coming up soon and any of Johanna's books would be great gifts for yourself or someone else.
I want to thank Johanna and Penguin Random House for sending me this book in exchange for my honest review

The Classic 1893 Cookbook

Author    Charles Ranhofer

Hardcover with 1200 pages

This review will be short as the book is written in a format that I don't understand.  There are a very lot of details about where the food came from and the recipes are written in paragraph form not as the recipes of today.  Very good reading if you want to study the art of French cooking back in 1893.

There are a lot of pictures of different vessels and cookware also the stoves and ovens of that day.   These are interesting to see, as my mother was born in 1898 and her grandparents were from Germany so I think they may have used some of the same items to cook with.  A very large and detailed book and I think Dover publishing for sending it to me for my honest review.  I am enclosing the product description from their web site.  Enjoy the following:

This great classic on the art of cooking is the creation of a master chef who worked for decades at America's most celebrated restaurant of the Gilded Age. Charles Ranhofer was already famous when he was hired by the legendary Delmonico's of New York, and under his supervision, the restaurant's kitchen achieved even greater renown. In 1893 Ranhofer shared his professional secrets with the publication of The Epicurean. This splendid facsimile of the now-rare volume offers modern cooks and gastronomes a complete culinary encyclopedia, comprising more than 3,500 recipes.
From appetizing soups, sauces, and garnishes to mouth-watering desserts, this collection provides a wealth of options for every course, including recipes for meats, seafood, and hot and cold side dishes as well as wine pairings. In addition to 92 ways to prepare eggs and 172 vegetable dishes, scores of menus offer suggestions for breakfasts, luncheons, dinners, buffets, suppers, and parties. A detailed index directs readers to specific dishes and foods, and nearly 800 black-and-white illustrations depict methods of preparation, table settings, cuts of meat, carving methods, and other techniques.
Inspiration and practical instruction abound in this historic book, which is as suitable for at-home cooks wishing to add elegance and sophistication to their kitchen repertoire as it is for gourmets and professionals seeking a guide to world cuisine. Anyone with a taste for fine dining will find this handsome edition of The Epicurean a self-contained library and guide to the pleasures of food and drink.
A Calla Edition, originally published by R. Ranhofer, New York, 1893."

My first 3D coloring book

                                             Book by Jessica Mazurkiewics

Dover Publications

I received this coloring book from Dover Publications for my honest review and I love this book.  I have never colored in a 3D book before and did not understand how it could be done but with the included 3D glasses it can be.  It has  a lot of nice Christmas scenes and they are not that hard to color and do not take a long time.  The only thing I don't like is there are picture on both side of the pages and for me the back side is always hard to color.  There are 122 pages in this book and it shows you what colors to use to make the 3D pop.  I have already colored one page and I am posting it.  I used mostly gel pens but any media I think would work, just use dark bright colors.

My Review:  The story of Esther in the Bible is a great story as there are not many Women in the Bible with details about. This one talks about her and is a good study guide if you want in depth study. There are notes and a scripture guide in the back of the book alone with some pages to color through out the book. The pages to color goes alone with the study for that day. A very nice book that is just the right size to fit in your handbag to carry along with you. Mary is a book with a lot of Bible study about her the mother of Jesus.  Alone with the devotionals there are pages to color.  On page 17 of the book is one of my favorite, Mary whatever He tells you, taken from John 2:1-12.  "Jesus is still in His creation today.  Still performing signs that point to Him.  Still revealing not only His goodness.  And, most particularly His goodness toward us."  I am reviewing this on Mother's day and what better day to tell of Jesus's young mother.  I was only 19 when I became a mother and it was one of the best days of my life, went on to have 3 more but that first child is just something precious. This book would be great for a Bible study and coloring group.  There are both so interesting.   I want to thank Tyndale Publishing for sending me this book for me to enjoy and to review.

    The Essential Amish Cookbook

    you can buy book here

This cook book is really nice along with the recipes the author has bits of information about her family and how all of her 8 children helped her out with doing this book. I am from SC and a lot of these I am familiar with.  The recipes are easy to make and most of them call for items you already have in your pantry. A lot of recipes that I find and would like to try calls for items I don't have on hand and don't use but I love the ones in this book.  The oatmeal bars sound so good and you can add nuts, raisins, or other good things. I want to thank Leann Hamby of    Herald Press for sending me this beautiful book for my honest review.  I love the book and I believe you will too.

Frederick Richardson was an American illustrator of the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, best remembered for his illustrations of works by L. Frank Baum. A native Chicagoan, Richardson studied at the St. Louis School of Fine Arts and at the Académie Julian in Paris. He taught at the Chicago Art Institute for seven years; Albert Henry Krehbiel and Dulah Evans Krehbiel were two of his students. He was "a slightly-built, gray-eyed man" whose work "was strongly influenced by the Art Nouveau movement...." From 1892 on, if not earlier, Richardson made a living as a newspaper illustrator, working for the Chicago Daily News; he produced many pictures of the famous World's Columbian Exposition in 1893. His employers valued his work highly enough to send Richardson back to Paris to cover the Exposition Universelle Internationale, the world's fair of 1900. A collection of his newspaper work from the Daily News was published in 1899.

    Rooster from Mother Goose

This book just made me go ahhhhhhh when I opened it.  I am a great-grandmother and I want to read these stories to my great-grandchildren that I read or was read too when I was a little girl, so many years ago.  Dover Publication sent me this book in exchange for my honest review.  I has all the old favorites as "The Three Bears" Red Riding Hood" " Chicken Little", "The Wolf and the Fox" and so many more, 18 stories in all and the illustration done by Frederick Richardson are so pretty, some in color and some in black and white.  There is 199 pages in all and the front and back inside covers are a double page picture.  I wish I could scan one of the pictures but the book is too large to go in my scanner.
I know you will love this book as much as I do and I can't wait until I can read it to one of my great-grands.

    Books 2, 3, 4

About the Author (taken from Amazon)

    ISBN: 9780997468113                                                                               ISBN: 9780997468120

    ISBN:  9780997468137

I received all three of these books from  Word Slinger Publicity Contact in exchange for my honest reviews.  These are the cuties books for young readers that will keep them wanting to read the complete book without stopping.
I have already reviewed #1 as you will see below on my blog.  Now for the remainder of the series.

Book #2 Sticky is a little elf and he and his friends live deep in the woods hidden from any human eyes but they decide to take a little journey to the big city of Philadelphia and the year was 1776.
Sticky tried to drive a horse and wagon but it got out of control, he had to stop and let George do it.  As they traveled on they meet their first human and he was so large to them, they could not believe it.  They thought the man was a going to eat them, such silly elves.
They learned how to work in a man's world and even tried to cross where a bridge had washed away.  They were paid for their word and guess what they bought "candy"  they were just learning how to live in this man's world.  Hope you enjoyed #2 of the books and continue on with the other 2.

Book #3  The elves are on their way to Springfield in this book and thanks again to Word Slinger Publicity for this book in exchange for my honest review.
As they traveled on their adventure they came to a magic store and Sticky could not wait to get inside. But he wandered off into the woods and did not know where he was or what he was seeing, as his friends found him he just disappeared in front of their eyes.  This is where he meets Dandelion a little Pixie.  They go fishing and it gets dark, Sticky ties his fishing line to his toe but wakes up being pulled into the water.  So much excitement on to the next book.

Book #4  I want to thank Word Publicity Contact for sending me this book in exchange for my review.  These books continue on as chapters so this book begins 54 as Sticky was being pulled into the water by a large fish.
As they learn more of the real world, they find that people have to pay taxes and even saw the Liberty Bell.  Sticky is still interested in magic but Robyn told him he ha to practice in order to do it.  Magnus tells them to get close together and get ready for a great experience as they entered into a magic portal.  When they start to leave for home Sticky thought of something he needed to do before this tale ends.  *He walked over to the front door and looked out at all the people who are reading these books and said "I love all of you".*

*this was taken from book # 4, page 131.
